About Empingham Village

Empingham is a small village at the east end of what was the twin valleys of the River Guash - now Rutland Water. The parish comprises 4,875 acres of arable, pasture, and wooded land (about 400 acres). It has 425 dwellings and, at last count, had 765 electors.

The village was owned by the Ancaster estate until 1924, when it was sold off to pay taxes and debts. Today the parish has a small base of commercial activity, has several smaller farms, otherwise being residential.

The village has a wide range of architecture, from centuries-old to modern. The wide Main Street contains several thatched homes and several examples of houses built by the Ancaster estate in the C19th.

When you are tired of the excitements of nearby Stamford and Oakham, a stroll through our quiet lanes and on many public footpaths, eventually arriving at the White Horse pub, will refresh you!

Empingham Parish Council. The council does all of those things one might expect but also hopes to utilise this space to encourage and support cultural and social activity in the parish.
